EA Play Delivers Amazing Games And Promises More For The Future
So Electronic Arts just hosted their first EA Play event, something different to their usual E3 program, with Andrew Wilson hosting in Los Angeles and Peter Moore hosting in London, the show bounced between them both. What this meant was the show was super disjointed, especially when things would start up on another stage elsewhere. But of course, it was all about the games and EA delivered quite a number of them that look great and some that don't.
Titanfall 2 was the game that opened the show, of course as is the case there was a leak just before hand, which took a little wind from the sails, but still not enough to diminish the game in anyway. The game is getting a true single player mode, which is no longer online required, so thank goodness and this time it is a more personal story. Players will step on to The Frontier as a Militia rifleman with aspirations of becoming a Pilot and this time, you won't be someone trained to use a Titan, but your Titan is more alive than before.
Stranded behind IMC enemy lines, and against overwhelming odds, you must team up with a veteran Vanguard-class Titan and uphold a mission you were never meant to carry out.
In multiplayer, Titanfall 2 delivers best-in-class shooter gameplay backed by more depth and variety including new Titans – each with their own unique abilities, a deeper set of Pilot abilities, an expanded arsenal of weapons, more customization options, and a robust progression system.
Titanfall 2 is set to release on October 28th for Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4.
At its heart, Fe is a personal narrative about our relationship with nature, the land, and its beings. It’s a wordless celebration of our longing to be one with world around us. It’s a story that is set to remind us that everything in this world is connected, living in a delicate balance that is constantly under threat. It's a game full of discovery, conflict, and relationships.
As expected, EA also talked about their sports games, which again are promised to see massive improvements, which it seems to be the same tune they sing every year. This year the focus went off Madden, outside of its competition they are doing over the next few days and went to Fifa 17, this year sporting the first year the game will be developed on the Frostbite engine.
Fifa 17 is going to sport a new story mode, much like NBA 2K16 last year, you will take control of a player making their way up through the world of soccer. But you won't just take charge on the field, but also off the field, in post game press conferences and more, so while the character will be the same for everyone, the journey taken will be different.
Of course, there was no doubt in anyones mind that Star Wars would not be brought up at the EA Play event, Star Wars Battlefront did amazing for the company, with fans really loving the experience. Sadly though, we did not get any actual information about what Star Wars games are coming, but we did get sneaks at what they are bringing to gamers over the next few years.
Perhaps the bit of information that struck me as insane, was the number of studios currently working on Star Wars content, from Dice the people behind Battlefront, Visceral and Respawn are working on new experiences lead by Amy Henning, known for Uncharted and Stig Asmussen from God of War 3. But we also got some more information that Motive and Criterion Games are also working on content for Battlefront and Motive will also be developing a new game as well.
The big game of the show was Battlefield 1, the next entry in the ever popular series, this time of course, the game is stepping back in time to the events of World War 1, offering players the chance to sink their teeth into a war that has never really been explored.
The games multiplayer is also seeing some changes, the biggest change is that the game will feature dynamic weather, meaning that when playing on a sunny day, things are going to be very different to when its raining or if the world is covered in fog. Of course, the game is fully going to embrace the destructible worlds that Battlefield is known for as well, which can lead to some very intense firefights.
