Alienware have revealed the new look Aurora R16 desktop gaming machine
Alienware have finally announced they are growing up and going with a more modern and traditional PC case design, with their redesigned Aurora R16.
Ok, so this isn’t just them slimming down the case and calling it a day, though that might have been enough for some, but rather the updated look has a few additional improvements. Of course, the case redesign is going to be the big draw, check out the below image, to see how it used to look against the new look.
The big deal with most of the Alieware products over the past few years is their Legend 2.0 design, so all the items look the same and while that might still seem to be the case here, they actually updated things to 3.
You can see it with the giant purple light on the right of the case, what Alienware call the Stadium Loop, that design should look familiar, as the new design style has been on some laptops for a while now.
But the case being slimmer is not all they did, with the redesign they took the chance to change how the airflow impacts the case. In fact these are the points Alienware are most proud of.
Optimised airflow: on average 20% quieter system, up to 10% lower CPU and 6% lower GPU temperatures.
Space-saving: Up to a ~40% decrease in total volume than the R15, while internal volume remains unchanged at 25.2L.
Versatile aesthetic: universal design that fits into more diverse environments.
As you can see, even the more traditional design was one aspect they wanted to aim for.
Ok, so lets say you get the new machine, what do you get inside? Well this infographic should help you out.
The specs inside will vary slightly, depending on what you want, from 16gb of RAM to 32gb, or a core i7 to a core i9 CPU. Even the storage is going to be upgradeable. Here are the listed tech specs, again variance will occur between some models.

All that tech will come with a price point to match and what that is, we don’t know. The American pricing has been announced, with the basic starting at $1,750 USD and goes up to $2,050 USD, with differences coming in via the customisations. The machine can be ordered in America, but Alienware have not listed a local date yet either, but hopefully both pieces of information are released soon.
