All You Need To Know About Nintendo Live 2024 Sydney
So tickets for Nintendo Live 2024 Sydney are being sent out, so we thought it would be good to break down the important details that you need to know.
Before we get into the details, Nintendo have advised that there will be no product reveals at the event, so anyone hoping for the Nintendo Switch Successor to show up, should lower those expectations. That is not to say they won’t have a surprise or two in-store, but this is an event to celebrate Nintendo, rather than one to talk about what is next.
Update - August 19
Nintendo have finally released some more details for Nintendo live, you can get all the details here, but the highlights that you need to know are:
My Nintendo Store
Much like the PAX Australia 2023 store, entry to the My Nintendo Store at Nintendo Live will require a ticket to get in, they are free but there are only a limited number for each session on both days. Tickets will be available to be obtained four times on each day, the times are:
10am
12:30pm
2pm
3:30pm
Tickets are not transferable, or replaceable if you lose yours, so in the words of Hagrid, stick to your ticket.
Once you are given a ticket, it will give you a return time and you will have 20 minutes between your time and your entry being cut off. Nintendo have made it clear that if you fail to return within your 20 minute window, you will not be allowed in.
Shopping will be done by using a catalogue, you will mark down what you went and then present it at checkout, with your goods being able for collection as you exit the event. Note it is the event, not the store, so if you buy something at 2pm, you will get it when you leave the show, so make sure you remember.
Charles Martinet Meet & Greet
Attendees can meet Charles on both days, the times for which are the same:
10:15am
1:00pm
3:45pm
If you want to join a session the queue for all of them opens 15 minutes before the session begins. There is no word on how long each session will go for.

What is Nintendo Live?
Nintendo Live is a celebration event of all things Nintendo, with games to play, events to watch and characters to meet. This is the first Nintendo Live in the Southern Hemisphere and much like the ones that have taken place in Japan and the USA, will be filled with everything Nintendo. The video below will give you an idea of what a Nintendo Live event can be.
When and where does it take place?
Nintendo Live 2024 Sydney takes place over two days, August 31st & September 1st with the show running from 10am to 4pm on each day.
The event is in Sydney and will take place inside ICC Sydney, you can see the ways you can get to the venue here.
Can you get a ticket on they day?
No, all tickets will be provided via a lottery system, just like the other Nintendo Live events. Tickets are free, but entries into the lottery are currently closed. If people are unable to attend, Nintendo may offer tickets to those who have been unlucky for now, but there is no word on if that will happen.
If you entered the lottery, you will be notified already on your result. If you have not seen an email from Nintendo, you can check your registration status here.
What games will be playable?
Nintendo have confirmed that the following games will be playable:
Super Mario Bros. Wonder
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Kirby and the Forgotten Land
Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet
None of the games recently revealed via the June Nintendo Direct, have been confirmed to be there. It is unlikely, however Nintendo do like to surprise players.
Update - July 12
Nintendo have expanded the details on this to call it the “Nintendo Switch Experience Zones” In these zones, which will be themed to major Nintendo series, there will be games from them to play, competitions to take part in and more. We of course don’t know what the more is, but given Nintendo love to provide things to players at events like PAX Australia and their numerous roadshow events, my guess would be pins, hats and such.
In addition to the game above, they also confirmed Pikmin, Animal Crossing, Splatoon and Nintendo Switch Sports are having zones.
Update - July 12
Mario Dojo Explained
When the Mario Dojo was announced, we said the below:
The Mario Dojo will also be something attendees can test their skills at. All we know for sure is that it will be “a fast and frantic challenge over three rounds of three different Mario games.“ What games are included are unknown, however Mario Kart is almost likely to be included.
Nintendo have now provided more details about this unique event. This is the official description of it:
Players of all skill levels are invited to take part in a single-elimination sequence of Mario games to compete for fun—and bragging rights! Aim to win in all three games, like Mario Kart™ 8 Deluxe and Super Mario Maker™ 2, in this winner-moves-on competition. The final game will be played on a showdown stage with three other finalists.
Based on that, it appears all the events are going to be competitive in nature, however we don’t know if the games will be the same for all competitors or if there will be different levels for different player ages.
What else can you do?
Beyond playing games there are more things that can be done. Nintendo Live 2024 Sydney will be where the finals of three Nintendo tournaments will take place. Here is when each will take place:
Saturday August 31st
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: AU/NZ Championship 2024 Finals
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate: AU/NZ Championship 2024 Finals
Sunday September 1st
Splatoon 3: AU/NZ Championship 2024 Finals
There will be a main stage where the finals will take place. That same stage is also where Charles Martinet, the Mario Ambassador will do something, it has not been confirmed what form his appearance will take.
In addition to playing games and watching them, attendees will also have the ability to take photos with select characters. The list of them so far is:
Mario
Luigi
Princess Peach
Kirby
Isabelle
There is no word on if there will be any more, but it is possible.
Update - July 12
Nintendo have confirmed this additional character:
Pikachu
Beyond the characters that will be there, a series of statues will be around. Link and Zelda from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, it is possible it will be this one.
There will also be two events where attendees can immerse themselves into the worlds of Kirby and Animal Crossing. For those who are fans of the pink puff, a walkthrough of larger-than-life Kirby and the Forgotten Land sculptures will be there. Animal Crossing fans will be able to enjoy what is known as an “immersive experience“ inspired by New Horizons, there is no word on exactly what that entails.
Will there be exclusive merchandise?
Yes. The full range has not been disclosed yet, but we do know of the below three items. The actual items might be different to what is shown below, but there will be stuff to spend some money on.
There is still a lot to learn about Nintendo Live 2024 Sydney and those details should come as we get closer to the event.
If you were lucky and scored a ticket, be sure to let us know as we shall be at the show as well.
