Apex Legends is getting ready for its 14th season with some big changes
Apex Legends is gearing up for its next season of content and included within that is some changes to King’s Canyon, a level cap increase and more, check out the trailer to get an overview of what is coming.
One of the major changes that this new season will bring in, is its reshaping of King’s Canyon, the original map that the game first launched with.
One of the larger changes is to the overall size of the map, they haven’t made the map larger, but rather refocused what is there, to allow for matches to feel more open. During Season 5, a massive explosion caused destruction on Skull Town and Thunderdome, now that the work to salvage what was found is complete, that section of the map has been filled in with sand and walled off from the water. You can see the change in the comparison images below.
There are even more changes to the map, so if you want to know all about them, hit up the games official website for more.
One of the most requested changes is being added to the game with this update and that is the increase of the level cap, something that hasn’t happened since December 2019, the same year that the game launched.
How big is the increase, you can now earn another 1,500 levels, though you will loop levels not just add to the existing one. What this means is that once you hit 500, your next level will take you back to 1, but it will be on a new tier, reach 500 on that tier and you go back to 1 on the next tier.
All these tiers mean that you can earn another 345 Apex Packs, as Apex Legends Design Director Aaron Rutledge explained.
“When we launched Apex we had an account max level of 100, which would get you about 30 Apex Packs by the time you hit max level,” he said. “And then in year one we raised that to level 500, which allowed players to earn about 200 Apex Packs.
In Season 14 the time has come to lift that cap even higher and expand what our most engaged players can dig into. We’re going to expand the max level cap by looping through 1-500 three additional times, essentially raising the level cap to 2,000.
This will add an additional 345 Apex Packs to what you can earn by account progression, and that raises the total number of Apex Packs you can earn by playing to 544.
And if anyone’s familiar with our Heirloom system, you know that once you hit 500 you’re guaranteed to get an Heirloom, so I think a lot of players will be excited to finally be rewarded for the time they put in and get that Heirloom.”
Of course, with a new season comes a new battle pass and cosmetics to unlock, you can get a glimpse of some of them below, but there is also a new Legend in the form of Vantage, but we can’t talk about her right now.
