Borderlands 3 is making the jump to next gen

During a panel at PAX Online, Gearbox announced that Borderlands 3 will be coming to Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, along with new updates for all versions and more. You can watch the entire stream below, or if you just want to get the highlights, jump below the video for the lowdown in text form.

Kicking things off with a bang, the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 versions of the game will run at 60fps and 4K on both platforms, offering a visual increase across the board. On top of that two much requested features are being added to the game, the first is that these new versions will allow you to play four-player split screen, meaning you can unlock a real couch co-op experience. On top of that the two player mode will allow you to have the screen split vertically, should you want to play that, the best news from that is that the mode will also be added to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game as well.

The best news is, that if you own the game on the current consoles and upgrade to the new consoles in the same family, PlayStation 4 to PlayStation 5, you will get a free upgrade to the new version, along with all the DLC and saves, meaning you won’t have to start over.

In addition to all that new paid DLC is coming and while it won’t be like the content that was included in the Season Pass, the final piece having just come out the other day, see what we thought in our review of it. So far the only thing we know is that it will include a new game mode and add a new skill tree for all the vault hunters, with FL4K being shown during the presentation.

More details on the DLC, skill trees and other character upgrades will be released over the coming months, however something to look forward to, is the addition of crossplay coming to the game.
