FIFA 21 announced, details to come soon

During EA Play 2020, EA did confirm that FIFA 21 is happening, but they showed nothing of this years game, instead choosing to focus on what is coming next. But as FIFA 21 is more important, this is all you need to know.

The game is going to release on October 9 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch, but there is a nice big asterix for the Switch release, it is a legacy edition.

More details about the full versions of FIFA 21 are coming this August, with the return of the much enjoyed Volta mode from last years entry.

Those looking for the Switch release, should expect to not bother about it, as it is FIFA 19, but with new skins and such, the core gameplay has not been changed. Here is the question from the FAQ's page.

What will be included in FIFA 21 on Nintendo Switch?

The FIFA 21 Legacy Edition on Nintendo Switch features the latest kits and squad updates for the upcoming season, updated presentation (in-game menus and broadcast overlays), but no new game modes or gameplay innovations.

Those looking for FIFA 21 on the next gen consoles, if you buy it for current PlayStation 4 or Xbox One, you can update to the new version for free, anytime before FIFA 22 is released, but with a catch, for those who purchase disc-less consoles.

If you buy it on disc at any retail store, you won’t be able to get the free update, as FIFA 21 on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 will only be a digital release. If you go digital, you are fine, or if your console has a disc drive, you are fine, but a mix of the two is not good.
