Final Fantasy XIV gets a new update and confirmation of a PC release

Square Enix were at PAX West recently and revealed new details about Final Fantasy XVI, specifically around a game update, a PC release and a panel.

First let us look at the update, which brings the game to version 1.10. Not a major update, but it does fix a few issues that players have encountered over the weeks since the game released, if you wanted to know if the game is worth it, we gave it a 10 in our review.

The update adds in a few fixes as stated before, but it also adds in a new appearance modifier tool. Here are the details for it, the actual feature is tied to the Arete Stone in the hideaway.

  • This allows you to change the costumes of several characters, including Clive.

  • It also allows you to change the appearance of the weapon Clive wields to that of any weapon previously obtained.

  • This feature is unlocked after progressing to a certain point in the story, and is not available at the start of a New Game+ playthrough until the same point is reached.

Some cutscenes will default back to the standard look for the characters in order to maintain loading speed, but still nice to get.

Another addition is that Clive can now get an onion sword, one of the blades of the Warriors of Light, heroes of FINAL FANTASY III.

There are more updates, check out the full patch notes for the details.

During the panel called Voices From Valisthea, Producer Naoki Yoshida appeared at the end in a video message to reveal the above features, but also to reveal that new DLC and a PC release was happening, here are the words spoken.

So while there are no details for either, its great to see the game announced for another platform and more content coming.

As for the full panel, you can watch it below, just set aside an hour to enjoy it all.
