Halo Studios revealed and confirms new projects in the works
At the recent 2024 Halo World Championship, it was revealed that 343 Industries, the people who make Halo games would be no more, well they are being renamed and with the new name comes a host of changes.
First the new name for the studio that makes Halo games would simply be Halo Studios, much easier to understand. The second major change is that after 1 game on Slipspace, the engine that powered Halo Infinite, the studio is swapping to Unreal Engine 5 for all future projects, well until Unreal Engine 6 comes about I reckon.
So what does all this mean? Well first is that the studio has confirmed that new games, yes gameS are in development, but there is no details beyond that. The studio revealed the news with something they call Project Foundry, which was created as a way to gauge their ambition and while that is not a game on its own, it could lead to something, we just don’t know.
The way the news was shared also indicated that there would be more than just one team working on the projects, as 343 Industries as a whole was dedicated to Halo Infinite, but going forward, it seems to be more teams for the new games.
Perhaps the best news is that the studio is committed to making more games faster, which should mean we get a second game on the Xbox Series hardware, however given that we have no idea the state of their work, they could be years away still.
