Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has been announced and is coming later this year
At the start of 2014, I backed a game on Kickstarter by a new studio called Warhorse and then 4 years later in 2018, Kingdom Come Deliverance was released. While the game got a few years of additional content and support, the developers have been very quiet for the last few years, until now, as they have revealed Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and its coming in 2024.
Below is the official description for the game:
You are Henry of Skalitz – an ordinary man doing extraordinary things – caught in a gripping tale of revenge, betrayal and discovery as he embarks on an epic journey, 'from a humble blacksmith's forge to the court of Kings', as he searches for purpose in this beautiful but brutal medieval world.
From bustling city streets to lush forests, discover this open-world Medieval Europe through an unforgettable adventure filled with action, thrill and wonder.
One of the elements that the studio is aiming to make central to the experience this time around, is that the world and that characters will react to what you do. This isn’t just something about them fleeing if you kill someone in front of them, but rather your reputation will influence them. If you are known as someone who is fair, people will like you and act accordingly, however if you are known as a thief or a murderer, then people will be wary of you.
All that is in combination of the fact that the world is double the size of the first game, your character will develop into whatever you want them to be and there are new weapons to enjoy as well. The first game was mostly melee combat focused and to a degree the sequel is as well, however this time there are some more impactful ranged weapons included. The more common of the two will be the crossbow, which gives you power but not range, the second is some very early firearms, which deliver devastating blows, but without a great deal of accuracy.
Combat is not your only option though, you can take your time to try and talk your way out things, but beyond that when people call out to you in the street, from you being naked and drunk or whatever else you might be doing, you can respond to them.
There is no set date for the game yet, beyond 2024, but when it does release the game will hit PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. So while Switch owners finally got the original game a few months back, the sequel is not coming to the console this time. Below the first screens, you can also check out the developer reveal, which dives into a lot of what the game will offer, including a nice selection of concept art.
