MLB The Show 23 announced with the reveal of Jazz Chisholm Jr on the cover
If there is one thing you can count on in gaming, it is that sports games will return every year like clockwork and that is the case for PlayStation’s long running MLB The Show series, which confirmed a new edition for this year, complete with Miami Marlins star Jazz Chisholm Jr to be the cover star.
As is the case for the series, they are going to drip feed details over the next few weeks. There are however a few details that we know today, including release date and platforms.
The game will roll out onto PlayStation, Xbox and Switch on March 28th. Those who get the current gen version, ie PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S will find 5 Show Packs and 10k Stubbs included in with the game, alongside access to the previous generation, within the same family.
Those who get the game on last gen, so Switch, Xbox One or PlayStation 4 will get 5k Stubbs included. Pre-orders for the game will open up on next week, but store listings are slowly going live now, Switch is the first. Because the Switch page is up, the only screens we have for the game come from that version, check those out below.
The game will also be available inside of Xbox Game Pass on release day, so members of that service will enjoy it, those on PlayStation Plus Deluxe or Extra are not getting anything.
Just like last year the game will support full cross-play and cross progression, here is the full statement about the features:
Once again Cross-Platform Play, Cross Saves and Cross Progression return allowing you to share your progress on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch*. Cross progression allows you to earn and use any earned content on any platform or generation (this excludes PS5 and Xbox Series X|S exclusive features like Stadium Creator). With cross saves you can transfer a save file for Road to the Show or Franchise mode to a different console.
For those stars the first one refers to online subscription needed to access that content, so no cross anything if you don’t have it. Finally, for those that have questions about the various modes, cross functions and more, the team have put together a FAQ.
