Monster Hunter Wilds reveals new monsters and a new location
We knew a new trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds was coming at Gamescom, however its contents remained a mystery and now know we know why. The new trailer, which you can see below, revealed new characters, a new location and the Lala Barina, a new spider/flower monster.
Sticking with the new monster, the Lana Barina is classed as a Temnoceran, a rare type of monster from across the series. It is so rare that this is only the 7th one to ever be found. This new beast inhabits the Scarlet Forest. Normally covered in white fur, Lala Barina can unfold its thorax at will, revealing a dazzling yet dangerous blooming rose appearance.
The Lala Barina was not the only monster to show up in the trailer as the Rey Dau also made an appearance, however this was teased previously. Rey Dau most often appears during the Sandtide Inclemency in the Windward Plains and is fully adapted to its harsh weather conditions. Accompanied by large-scale lightning strikes, Rey Dau possess a mastery of the elements by unleashing earth-shattering electrical discharge attacks of its own.
The new hunting grounds that were revealed were the Scarlet Forest, which is where the Lala Barina calls home. This location is a lush setting with towering greenery contrasted by waters dyed a crimson hue. Like the other ecosystems in Monster Hunter Wilds, the Scarlet Forest is a dynamic environment that undergoes periods of Plenty, Inclemency, and Fallow that transform the landscape and wildlife residing within it.
There are a lot of details, but I am very happy to see the meat cooking experience remains, though with a new look to it. There are a lot more details about the game now over on the official site, including how the world will change due to the unique weather around.
The game is set to release sometime in 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but there is no date beyond that at this time.
