Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered is real and coming this November

Perhaps the worst kept secret of the year, EA have announced that Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered is in fact real and racing onto Switch, PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this November, check out the unique reveal trailer below.

The PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game will release on November 6, while Switch owners need to wait a little longer as it won’t hit there until November 13, still better than the 2 years it took Burnout Paradise to hit.

“Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit was ahead of its time when it released in 2010 as we built an automatic comparison and friend recommendation system in the game before that type of thing became a norm in today’s world. Now, we’re delighted to be bringing that spirit of timeless racing competition back to new platforms and players where they can connect, compare and compete no matter what platform they’re on, even on the go this time with the Nintendo Switch,” said Matt Webster, VP of Criterion Games. “Fueled by Autolog and some of the world’s most desirable and classic supercars, this will create the most heart-pumping socially competitive racing experience.”

The game is going to take the existing gameplay, but overall the visuals, giving players the best looking Hot Pursuit game it can, but it is not just visuals that have changed. Brand new achievements, car colors, reduced hard stops, an updated photo mode and multiple quality of life updates make this the best time to reignite the pursuit on either side of the law. Plus after launch, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered will also see the addition of car wraps, which will give players even more customization options.

If that wasn’t enough for you, the Remastered release also packs in the six post launch DLC packs, which adds in more hours of racing and challenges. Below are some screens, the top 3 come from the more powerful consoles, the bottom 3 come from the Switch build.

Need for Speed Hot Pursuit Remastered has been upgraded for today’s generation of hardware with enhanced visuals. The Nintendo Switch version runs at 1080p/30 FPS in docked mode (720p/30 FPS undocked) and includes higher-resolution models, more objects and props, longer draw distance, higher resolution shadows, and improved videos.

Depending on your specifications, 4K/60 FPS is supported on PC, and players can choose between 4K/30 FPS or 1080p/60 FPS on PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X. Base versions of PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will run the game at 1080p/30 FPS. In addition to the listed improvements for the Nintendo Switch version, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions are also updated with upressed UI, higher resolution reflections, boosted textures, more particles, and improved AA/SSAO.

The remaster is being crafted by the folks at Stellar Entertainment, who apart from having a number of former Criterion members on board, also worked on the incredible Burnout Paradise Remastered, which is available on all the platforms, including Switch.
