The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD is slicing onto Switch this July
Many folks were expecting a Zelda related announcement during the Nintendo Direct, and while a HD version of Skyward Sword was considered, many thought the controls would stop it, turns out Nintendo found a way around that, so we have The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD to look forward to.
Originally released in 2011 for the Wii system, and depicting the earliest story in the series’ timeline – as well as the creation of the Master Sword itself – The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword game now arrives on Nintendo Switch with smoother and more intuitive controls, in addition to improved framerate and graphics.
In this enhanced version of the game, running at a smooth 60 frames per second, you can choose to play using motion control with the two Joy-Con controllers in a similar way to the original, or use newly added button-only controls to play the game with the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, in handheld mode or using a Nintendo Switch Lite system.
The game is set to release on July 16, but you can pre-order it now, and those special Joy-cons will also release on the same day, more on those below.
Part of the announcement was the news that there would also be a set of Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword HD themed Joy-Cons, which you can order now from EB Games, they are not exclusive, just the only retailer that has a listing at the time of writing.
