The Thing Remastered has been revealed, and is coming later this year

Nightdive Studios have announced that the 2002 game The Thing, which itself is based off the 1982 movie, is getting the remastered treatment and coming later this year. Check out the first trailer for the game below.

Nightdive Studios has revitalized a terrifying classic for today's gaming platforms using its proprietary KEX Engine, enabling play at resolutions up to 4K and 120FPS. The studio has meticulously enhanced character models, textures, and animations, and introduced cutting-edge 3D rendering techniques to upgrade lighting and atmospheric effects. This results in a remaster that's both suspenseful and rich in detail, breathing new life into an exhilarating game for contemporary players.

Many of us at Nightdive Studios are ardent fans of the horror genre, so it’s been an incredible honour to work within the world of the iconic The Thing. The 1982 film is a masterpiece and truly one of the most impactful pieces of art in the horror genre. With The Thing: Remastered, we’re honouring that legacy and Computer Artworks’ incredible game inspired by the story that further expanded the lore.

As for the game, here is the official blurb about it, just in case you had no idea.

In the frozen arctic tundra, a mysterious shape-shifting alien has wiped out the crew of the U.S. Outpost #31 research facility. In The Thing: Remastered, players step into the boots of Captain J.F. Blake, the leader of a United States Army Special Forces rescue team sent to investigate the blood-curdling events that transpired in the original The Thing film. Trapped by the elements and at risk of infection by a horrific entity, Blake must keep his squad together to survive by gaining their trust and ensuring that their fear and paranoia don't get the best of them … or himself.

The game is coming to PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch later in the year, but there is no set date beyond that at this time.
