Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord is reborn this month
Digital Eclipse have announced that Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord, a remake of one of the original role playing games, will leave early access on May 23rd and arrive in full on PC, along with Switch, Xbox and PlayStation. Sadly they have not released a new trailer for the game at this time, but we do get to enjoy the one from when the early access kicked off.
Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord is built directly on top of the original 1981 game's code. Although it looks all new, underneath the hood is the authentic game. You can even view the original Apple II interface as you play.
Here you can craft your own party of adventurers and head into the labyrinth at the behest of the mad overlord Trebor, in search of the amulet stolen by the evil wizard Werdna. Battle groups of challenging enemies, avoid hidden traps, and make your way deeper into the dungeon as you prepare for the ultimate battle: Facing Werdna himself.
The below screens are from Switch, PlayStation and PC, 3 for each and in that order. When the full game is released it will land on all platforms.
