Xbox Game Pass is increasing its prices, but also launching a new tier
Over the years, the price of Xbox Live Gold and latter Xbox Game Pass has slowly been creeping up and now it seems the price is going to jump yet again.
Xbox are sending out notifications to its members to advise that the prices are going up, starting on September 12.
As you can see below, the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is going up from its current $18.95 AUD to $22.95 AUD, which is a $4 increase, or a 21% increase. There is no additional offerings as part of the price, you are just going to have to pay more for the same service.
Xbox have stated that they are launching a new tier as well this September, called Xbox Game Pass Standard. This new plan will provide you to the catalogue of games on Game Pass, but it won’t include Day One additions like Call of Duty Black Ops 6 or Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. It will allow for Online Gaming as well, but not the Clouding gaming tier, so if you are someone who wants a large library of games to play, but doesn’t travel or care about the newest, this is what you will be looking for.
Currently there are multiple tiers, depending on the platforms you have and while not confirmed, it is likely all will see a price jump in September. These are the current plans:
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate - $18.95 per month
Console Game Pass - $11.95 per month
PC Game Pass - $10.95 per month
Xbox Core - $10.95 per month
From September 12, the tiers and prices will look like the following:
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate - $22.95 per month (this one is confirmed)
Xbox Game Pass Standard - $19.95 per month
PC Game Pass - $12.95 per month
Xbox Core - $12.95 per month
We rounded those to the nearest price, but they still could be more or less, we honestly don’t know.
Right now you can stack 3 years worth of Game Pass on whatever tier you are in, so if you wanted to save yourself some cash, you can do so by buying months of the subscription before the September price increase. Once the price changes comes into effect, you will not be able to do this, as the service will cap out at 13 months for all tiers.
But what say you about this price changes, are you ok with the price going up or are you over everyone upping their prices for no actual reason?
