Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush Launches Here May 9th

Nintendo Australia has confirmed that Australian and New Zealand gamers will get to experience the claymation wonderland of Kirby and the Rainbow Paintbrush, May 9th.

If the game looks like clay, rest assured it is all computer done, but Kirby fans should know by now that Kirby is always one to re-imagine each game. A solo player can take on the role of Kirby and using a system that was created for the 2005 title, players will draw lines to help Kirby get to higher ground, while also tapping to attack.

But the game also supports multiplayer, with additional players being able to take control of other members of Dreamland to help restore colour to the world. If you own one of the three Kirby amiibo, then you can use them once a day to unlock special abilities depending on which you scan.  By tapping a Kirby amiibo to the Wii U GamePad, players receive an unlimited Star Dash within a stage, which otherwise can only be activated by collecting 100 stars. A King Dedede amiibo outfits Kirby with a hat that grants him six health bars instead of the normal four, and the Meta Knight amiibo gives Kirby a mask that lets him use a fast dash that blasts right through weaker enemies.

Look for the game on May 9th either in store or on the Nintendo Wii U e-shop.
