Apex Legends is igniting things up for its next season
Respawn Entertainment have been pretty consistent with their updates to Apex Legends since the game released, but they have been remiss on one major addition to the series, cross progression, but that changes with Ignite.
As with all seasons the game will be updated to include a new character, say hello to Conduit. Known as Rowenna Valentina Coffey Divina officially, but Conduit as its much shorter, sady much like her lifespan. You can learn more about the character on the official page.
The character is considered a support class and that means they can craft unrecovered or expired ally banner cards at Replicators. In addition they can access the hidden loot in blue Extended Supply Bins for Healing and Survival Items. Check out Conduit’s story trailer below.
The gameplay trailer can be seen below.
Of course it wouldn’t be a new season without map changes and this time Storm Point is the one being updated, mostly to address the issues around those casual plays.
With this update the teams aim was to improve the fun factor without sacrificing competitive integrity. To do this, they have made the following changes:
Add attractive, central POIs for players searching for combat. Wattson’s Pylon and CETO Station provide central hot drops for players looking to fight early.
Reduce overall map size to improve mid-game pacing. Significant map size reductions to both the southern coastline and northern mountainous areas make these zones more attractive for early combat and reduce the overall distance between squads.
Reduce friction of central rotations. With CETO Station replacing Prowler Island and a reworked Prowler-less Forbidden Zone, rotations through the center of map have never been smoother.
You can learn all about those changes in greater detail on the site.
Of course, the major addition to the season is Cross Progression, which means players who have been on PC since day one, but want to use a console or someone on PlayStation 5 but wants to Switch things up while travelling, can now do so. The full details on what will happen can be found here, but here are the highlights.
The rollout will not happen all at once, but will be done in phases, so be patient there. An EA Account will be required to merge your profiles, which you should already have but its important to note that if you have two accounts, say one on PC/Xbox and one on Switch, they will not be merge, only the first will be done.
There are restrictions, mostly around platform unique cosmetics, but there are more, here are the restrictions you need to be aware of.
