Melbourne eSports Open has been delayed

Melbourne eSports Open has been delayed

In an open letter to fans, players and anyone that was interested, the folks behind the Melbourne eSports Open have announced that the event will not take place this year now and will instead come back on August 21 and 22, 2021, so a big 12 month delay.

While the delay is a little sad, it was clearly made in order to ensure the safety of all involved, which is something we can all get behind. The full statement is below, or you can head on to the main site and give it a read.

In light of the current global health situation, local restrictions on gatherings, it's with a heavy heart we communicate that IEM Melbourne will no longer take place in 2020, and instead has been rescheduled to August 21-22, 2021.

We will be heading to Rod Laver Arena at the 2021 edition of the Melbourne Esports Open, which will take place over the weekend of August 21-22, 2021. If you have already booked your trip to Melbourne in 2020, we recommend you cancel your trip and reschedule any bookings where possible. Your purchased tickets for 2020 still remain fully valid for IEM Melbourne 2021. If you already know you can’t make the new dates, you are able to request a refund anytime over the next month through Ticketek. Please contact our support team via csgo@eslgaming.com if you have any questions, or join our event Discord.

Over the last three years, the entire team at ESL Australia, and ESL crew from around the world have looked forward to IEM as one of the highlights of our year - like every CS:GO fan in the country. Thousands have come to watch some truly memorable games, and to take their place in what is the best crowd in esports. We are looking forward to being able to deliver these memories once again in 2021, and hope to see you there.
