Private Division and Game Freak are teaming up for Project Bloom

Game Freak are best known for small titles like Pulseman, Little Town Hero, Pocket Card Jockey and a little series called Pokémon. Today they have announced a new game, sort of, say hello to Project Bloom.

The news came from a release from indie publisher Private Division, which is a Take-Two company and part of the news is that they would be publishing this new game. Now most Game Freak games have been published by Nintendo, but Sega, Rising Star Games and even Sony have published their titles in the past.

The only details we have for the game is the piece of pretty incredible looking concept art below and that it will release sometime in the Private Division fiscal year of 2026. That window means it could be as early as October 1, 2025 or as late as September 30, 2026, or of course, anywhere in between.

There are no platforms announced, though Switch is unlikely, given it should be replaced by then. We do have words from two folks involved with the game, so there is that.

We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to create new IP that is bold and tonally different from our prior work. From the beginning, Private Division was the publisher we wanted to work with on our new game. Their track record and global expertise give us all the confidence to create a sweeping new action-adventure game that we can’t wait to share more about in the future.
— Kota Furushima, Director at Game Freak
Over the past three decades, you’d be hard pressed to find a studio which has released more iconic hits than Game Freak. We’re ready to help Game Freak unleash their potential and we’re honored to be the first Western publisher to work alongside this exceptionally talented and proven team to bring a bold new IP to market.
— Michael Worosz, Chief Strategy Officer, Take-Two Interactive, and Head of Private Division

This isn’t the first out of left field partnership Private Division have announced, they have worked with gaming companies like Obsidian and Piccolo but last year they revealed they are working with Wētā Workshop on a new Lord of the Rings game.
