The Elder Scrolls Online updates for next gen are delayed a week
The team at Zenimax Online Studios, the folks that make The Elder Scrolls Online have announced that the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation enhancements will be delayed a week from its planned June 8.
The reason is that due to the release of Blackwood happening on the same day for PC, Mac, Xbox One and PlayStation 4, they wanted to ensure that they had their bases covered, in the event of any issues coming up. Check out the statement they released on the website.
In an abundance of caution, we are moving the ESO: Console Enhanced launch out a week. We are doing this so we are not launching Update 30 (Blackwood) at the same time as Console Enhanced and can give both our undivided attention. The new date for ESO: Console Enhanced on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 is now Tuesday, June 15. Blackwood and Update 30 will launch as planned on PC/Mac/Stadia on June 1 and Xbox One and PlayStation 4 systems (and backwards compatibility mode on current-gen consoles) on June 8.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but we want to ensure that everything launches smoothly during this very busy time. Thank you all for the ongoing support, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to Blackwood next month.
The enhanced release will take place now on June 15, which is just a week later, but if you were still planning on playing Blackwood on your new console, the game is still backwards compatible, you just won’t get fancy lighting or such.
We got to go hands on with Blackwood a while back and enjoyed what we got to play, you can read our thoughts on the game here, as for the game itself, check out our Bargain Guide to ensure you score the best deal you can for it.
